Visit the New Lanark Mill

Just an hour or so away from both Edinburgh and Glasgow is the New Lanark Mill UNESCO World Heritage Site and Visitor Centre. This is a truly unique 18th century mill village which sits alongside the picturesque River Clyde. Through a series of interactive exhibitions, the experience tells the fascinating history of the mill village. Attractions include the Annie McLeod Experience ride which transports you back in time, the Millworkers’ House in the 1820’s and 1930’s, Robert Owen’s House, Robert Owen’s School for Children and a working textile and machinery exhibit. Nearby are the ‘Falls of Clyde’ waterfalls, a series of four waterfalls with great land and marine wildlife. Regular badger and bat walks are held throughout the year. Castlebank Park, site of the Lanark Castle is also nearby, and is where William Wallace began his rebellion against the English rule.
