Visit Burhou Island
Burhou Island is located just one and a quarter miles from Alderney’s coast and is only half a mile long and one fifth of a mile wide.
This uninhabited island has become a sanctuary for the avian wildlife and is home to 11 species of breeding seabirds and an unfortunately declining colony of puffins. This island is so important to conservationists and ornithologists that the States of Alderney enforce a closed season between March and August to protect them, and visitors can view only by webcam from Alderney.
Several companies run around the island boat trips for visitors in groups of between 10-12 people on certain days of the week.
